About CAFF

CAFF is a local community group in the borough of Charnwood which exists to support and promote Fairtrade.

It was set up in 2004 by interested groups and individuals in Charnwood including volunteers from the Loughborough Oxfam shop, faith groups including members of Loughborough Churches Together, representatives from Loughborough Students Union and Charnwood Borough Council.

The group was set up to promote Fairtrade and work towards achieving Fairtrade Borough status for Charnwood, more of which can be found on this website.

In March 2006 after lots of hard work from all the members of CAFF, Charnwood was awarded Fairtrade Borough status. We were one of the first boroughs in the East Midlands to gain this prestigious title which built upon the successes of Loughborough University being a Fairtrade University.

The award was presented at a special Fairtrade Speaker Event during Fairtrade Fortnight 2006 where Ugandan Fairtrade Tea producer Silver Atwoki-Kasoro talked first hand about the benefits of buying Fairtrade products.

CAFF meets every month to arrange Fairtrade events and promotional activities. If you would like to be a member of CAFF please contact charnwoodfairtrade@tiscali.co.uk  for information about the date and location of the next meeting.
